This is not a common topic, yet most adults have a scar, small or big, on their body. It is important to have a better understanding of its impact. People are usually only interested in scars when there is an infection, a healing problem or for its aesthetic aspect.

For me, as a holistic therapist, it is one of my main focus area. Why? Because few people know the consequences of scars on health and even fewer treat them.

The effects and repercussions of scars are multiple and they are connected on a person’s physical, psycho-emotional and energy levels.

Physical: there are often adhesions between the different tissue layers. This can affect the adjoining structures or further afield ones (joints, muscles, fascia, etc.)

Psycho-emotional: the story is written in the scar tissue. The event itself (crash, surgery, burn), but all the other aspects connected (emotions of fear, death, anger).

Energy: a scar can be a strong block to the meridian flow or a leak of your energy levels, and you can loose up to 40% of your vitality through it.

Some symptoms (depending on the area) you could experience:

-    local pain (medical exams can’t find something specific as to the cause of the pain) or in another place,

-    lost of feeling around the scar,

-    fatigue or lost of vitality,

-    change of mood, and emotions.

In case of a C-section or hysterectomy the most typical effects are fatigue, depressive state or loss of libido.

This testimonial show well the consequences of hysterectomy surgery:

Approximately 7 years ago I had a hysterectomy.  In the months following the operation I experienced depression, loss of libido and a reduction in energy.  When I went to Cedric, having been told he was excellent and also doing some research about him and his qualifications on the web, I was really simply looking for a general wellbeing treatment.  From the outset I found Cedric very easy to talk to and felt perfectly comfortable with him - I would have to admit there was a part of me that had been hesitant about going to a male natural health professional.  During a discussion about my hysterectomy, Cedric explained to me about the impact a scar can have on the body's wellbeing.  I had been doing some detailed reading on meridians (energy paths that flow through the body) in which I was very interested, but had never considered that a scar from an operation and resulting scar could affect the flow of energy through the body.  When Cedric told me about the impact of a hysterectomy scar on particular meridians, eg depression and loss of libido, I could immediately relate that to my experience.  I had assumed that the operation had brought on menopause and that my symptoms were related to that.  But I now had an alternative and one that provided me with light at the end of the tunnel.  After only two treatments I was experiencing a very positive impact on my symptoms, and am continuing to improve with ongoing treatments.  Also, I hadn't realised that there was a degree of numbness around my scar and this has all but disappeared.  I would advise any woman who has a scar such as mine to consult Cedric and give themselves a chance to experience a much improved state of health.  At all times Cedric treated me with the greatest respect, explained the available treatments extremely well and also listened to anything I had to say.  Thank you so much Cedric for your help.

My way to treat scars
The first tools are specific massages, MIL-therapy (magnetic Infrared Laser Therapy), Bach flower remedies, essential oils and sometimes lithotherapy (crystal and stones) and other methods working on the holistic body fields.

But I also encourage my clients to massage the area and to apply specific cream or essential oils combination to improve their result.

Example
R. a woman 80 years old came to see me for different health problems, but the main one was her total lack of energy and back pain for many years. After the interview she showed me a scar in her lower back, close to her spine. It was an amazing hole (around 2cm x 3cm and 2,5 cm deep), and the consequence of a bedsore after a stay at the hospital when she was 4. Her treatment consisted of MIL-Therapy, Bach flower remedies, essential oils, reflexology and massages. After 3 months of working together, she has reached her optimum level of vitality and maintains it. She’s found pleasure in walking further than 500m.

Don’t forget it is never too late to treat a scar.
