When you take on a Coach there are a few essential ingredients you need in place to make the most of it ... Yep, the right goals for a start and a solid game plan. But also, it's how you engage with the coaching and the little things you can do to maintain the focus you need to nail your goals!

#1 Keep your goals in mind

Your goals are the central focus of the coaching process so keep them visible and in front of mind. Ideas!

  • Display in your wallet
  • On the bathroom mirror
  • The fridge door
  • As your screen-saver

#2 Access Support!

Depending on your Coach, you may be able to access them between sessions. For my clients I offer unlimited support between sessions, but do check with your coach first. Access you Coach if you...

  • Get stuck on an action
  • Give a progress update
  • Share an insight or a success
  • When something has developed to alter your between session actions, and you want to re-think it.

#3 Pre-Session Preparation

Send your Coach an email summary of your completed actions 24hrs before each session, this will help them prepare. You can send in what you actually did, the results or a summary of learnings. Whatever you want to share, is valuable.

#4 Book Yourself Out!

Book yourself out to work on your goals between sessions. Adding it to your diary gives you space and priority you need to achieve your goals.

#5 Journal Insights

As you work on your goals, you’ll have insights and learnings, record these so you can reference them and capitalise moving forward.

#6 Back-Yourself

Imagine that you’re drawing a line in the sand and stating what it is you really want. Your commitment to your goals is what will get you there!

#7 Be Solution-Focused

Whatever you want to achieve just requires the right set of solutions to get you there. Trust this principle and problem solving becomes a simpler process.

#8 Stretch

The coaching runs over just a short time in your life, so ‘push the boat out’ – what you learn here will have a long reaching effect.

#9 Pick a ‘Hero’

Get additional help; share your goals with someone who’ll encourage you and soundboard your ideas and learning – ask them to check in with you and keep you accountable.

#10 Trust

Trust yourself to make the most of the coaching, be willing to experiment and be curious about what’s possible.
