This school year is different from other years because of the Rugby World Cup. Read this article to get an idea of how short term four is, and some quick tips about how to start making revision sheets.
The third school term has started, and soon it’s only a short holiday that stands between you and final year exams. I’ve recently started working with two students helping them get started preparing early for their exams. We’ve been putting together revision sheets for topics that are covered in the NCEA achievement standards for level one maths. The revision sheets cover what type of problems will be asked, example questions, and personal comments about things that the student finds tricky or needs to remember. These kind of sheets are great, and once I’ve helped students make a few, they run with it and start using the ideas behind the technique in preparing for their other exams.
The reason I’m writing this now is to point out that there is barely a fourth term this year. Students who want to do well will help themselves by starting their study early, because they won’t really have anytime after the holiday between the third and fourth terms. Also, the rugby world cup will create an exciting distraction to students trying to get their head around final exams, especially if they are the first they have taken, or are important for what university courses they can take.
So get started now!
