First, we'll discuss what consideration is not, because, as in the process of elimination, you can never truly see something, until you recognise what it is not.

Concideration is not a passive act.

What most people think of as considering, is asking themself a question, then having thoughts.

Having thoughts and opinions takes a few seconds.

What actually arises, immediately after you ask yourself a question, is you're brain's assessments, judgements, decisions and opinions.

These are based in your past, and usually have no relevance to what is happening now, in the present moment.

This is being judgemental.

Your brain will always tell you why you can't do something, why "that is not possible for me".
This kind of thinking is on automatic pilot. These thoughts arise with no effort from yourself. This is a passive act.
You are not thinking, you are having thoughts.

Consideration is a creative act.

In Consideration, you actively imagine life, your circumstances from a particular point of view.
I say, consideration is to think from a point of view for at least 30 seconds, using your imagination.
An open minded person considers things from numerous points of view.

To truly consider something, you must let go of any expectations, decisions about the future, and judgments.
In considering something, ask yourself, if that were the case:
Where have I done that before?
Could others say that about me?
How could that make a difference?
What would that make available to me, others and my experience of life?
What judgements / opinions / assessments do I have that would prevent me from practicing that?
What decisions about my future and ability would I have to let go of to cause that result in my life?
What could my future be like if I practiced that?

When you actively consider something, you are allowing yourself, giving yourself the freedom to step outside your automatic ways of thinking.

You are creating additional ways of thinking. Ways of thinking that usually give you a sense of freedom.
